The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) built the Watauga Dam in the 1940s to help with flood control and to create a new source of hydroelectric power in east Tennessee. The Watauga Dam Project Film, held by the Archives of Appalachia at East Tennessee State University, consists of ca. ten minutes of footage of the dam's construction, recorded between ca. 1942-1949.
